Two reporters were arrested for threatening and demanding money

On 15.05.2023, Kurra Kanukayya, a farmer from Gandilachappet village in Tangallapally mandal, was loading the teak wood grown in his own farm in a tractor to make doors (darwaja) as part of the construction of his house and taking it with his son and driver to Wood cutting machine in Tangallapalli, two reporters from Tangallapalli, stopped the tractor in the middle of the road at Mandepalli Kaman, and took videos and photos and demanded 50,000 rupees. If the money is not paid, they threatened to send photos and videos to the forest authorities and provide information that the farmer is illegally transporting teak wood, but the farmer said that he would not, the two men took photos and videos and posted them on various social media saying that the officials were cooperating in this and misled the people and the authorities. According to the complaint of the concerned farmer, a case was registered and after the investigation, both the reporeters were produced in the court, Tangallapalli SI Lakshmareddy said.

SI said that strict action will be taken if any one make threats or demands to give money in the guise of reporters, and if they trouble anyone in the district to give money in the guise of reporters, people should file a complaint in the concerned police station.
