Unveiling the statue of Veera Chakra awardee
RSD- Sircilla news: Captain Vijaya Raghunandan Rao, the first ‘Veera Chakra’ awardee who resisted the aggression of Pakistan, fought to protect the motherland and rested in the lap of Mother India, his statue was inaugurated by all the villagers. Raghunandan Rao was born in 1939 to Kuchagiri Rao-Kanthamma couple of Chinnabonas, Sircilla Municipal Merged Village. He joined the Indian Army as a second lieutenant in the year 1962. Later he was promoted as captain. In the war with Pakistan in 1965, he fought as a captain of the Indian army. He died a heroic death for the defense of the motherland after being hit by enemy bullets. As his last wish was to give 24 hours electricity to the village where he was born, the then Indian government provided 24 hours electricity to the village farmers. A statue of such a brave soldier was installed by the local councilor and the entire village together unveiled the statue in a grand manner. Captain’s family members spoke on this occasion and said that regardless of whether they were young or old, all the villagers were very happy to participate in the unveiling of the statue. This program was organized like a big festival and it will be an inspiration for future generations.
