Laws should be understood and strictly enforced at the field level

District Collector Anurag Jayanti directed the officers to understand the spirit of the special laws for the welfare of women and elderly and implement them strongly at the field level.

At Collectorate Mini Meeting Hall with Sakhi Management Committee, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Anurag Jayanthi on 14.03.203 evening.

In this meeting, District Welfare Officer Lakshmirajam explained the services provided by Sakhi to the committee members.

District Collector Anurag Jayanthi appreciated the good performance of the Sakhi Center in the district. He suggested that the toll free number 181 should be widely publicized so that the services offered by Sakhi could reach more people. It is also suggested that 181 toll free number should be publicized in all schools, colleges, educational institutions, workplaces, public places, temples, churches and mosques across the district. Special arrangements should be made every Tuesday to provide quality and better counseling services at the Sakhi Center.

Also a management meeting was held about the welfare of the elderly. As part of this, if the parents are neglected by their children or heirs, if they are enjoying the property of the parents and are careless towards the parents, they can complain to the Tribunal headed by the Revenue Divisional Officer and also complain to the Appellate Tribunal headed by the District Collector. As part of this, 14567 toll free number will be available for senior citizens from 8 am to 8 pm. It was also informed that a field response officer has been appointed specially for this purpose and their services should be utilized. It is also suggested to use the daycare center built for the elderly. It is also advised to use the elderly day care center for those who are homeless, those who are neglected and those who have no one to take care of them.

District Police Officer Akhil Mahajan said that the police department will provide their support for the strict implementation of special laws for the welfare of women and the elderly.

Later, the officials unveiled the campaign brochures of the help line for the elderly.
