Production of fake seeds, criminal cases against sellers, registration of P.D.Act.

District SP Akhil Mahajan held a review meeting with District Agriculture Department Officer Bhaskar on 19.05.2023 at the District Police Office on the measures to be taken to prevent fake seeds in the districts.

SP said that the district police is ready to take pre-emptive measures to prevent the farmers who do not pay attention to the start of monsoon cultivation to fall prey to fake seeds. To prevent the supply, production and sale of fake seeds, a special task force has been set up at the mandal level under the district police department and they will conduct regular inspections and awareness meetings in collaboration with the officials of the agriculture department.

SP said that if information is received that any businessmen, organizations or individuals are selling fake seeds in the district, they should immediately report to Special Branch CI Karunakar on phone number 87126 56411 or dial 100, local police, the details of those who have provided information will be kept confidential, and rewards will be given to those who provide key information.

He said that surveillance should be kept on the people involved in cases of fake seeds in the past, and if they sell fake seeds again, criminal cases will be registered against them and P.D. Act will be registered against them in the district. SP asked the farmers to be vigilant against those who sell fake seeds and pesticides.

District Agriculture Department Officer Bhaskar said that farmers are advised to be careful while buying seeds and check twice to avoid getting cheated by buying fake seeds and buy only seeds certified by the company. Farmers who want to cultivate cotton should buy seeds from the certified company seed organizer, when the farmers buy them, they should get a receipt from the organizer, and if the farmers keep the packet covers with them until the harvest is completed, if the farmer incurs losses due to the cultivation of the seeds, the concerned organizer, the company should be held responsible. The organizer said that the received receipt and packet covers will be used as a basis, and there will be a possibility to take strict action against the company.
